When I start to notice all the great new fabric in the stores in early fall, all lined up like jewels, I get the itch to make something fabulous. As you can see I like big, bold, rich, pattern and color...I won't sew it if I don't LOVE it.
| Patterns by Amy Butler: My Summer journal bag was made from her old Rural Messenger Bag Pattern, and the Fall Journal Bag will be made from her new High Street Messenger Bag Pattern. |
I need a new fall journal bag. It has long been my goal to have one for all the seasons, so as not to wear one out specifically, but I don't usually have the time. I need it to be strong enough to hold my journal, a few pens and...after much thought and experience, an umbrella. I chose Amy Butler's new High Street Messenger Bag pattern because I've used her patterns before and like the ease of which you can change whatever you need to, to get the bag you want.

So, off I went today to pick out the perfect fabric for the exterior (pictured above), the interior, and the lining. Once I found the gorgeous KAS fabric I was giddy...the rest was easy. The only thing I may need to do that isn't really advised with the cotton duck lining is wash it because it is a little heavy...do I have a needle strong enough to get through all of this?

Thanks Sue...my next couple of posts will be "the making of the journal bag"...so come back soon!
I din't expect to find fabric I liked at one of those "big box" fabric stores...but I did...next week it is %50 off...so I may go get a little more just to be on the safe side.
Great fabric....I can't wait to see the bag....love the pattern..
I am SO stealing that pattern to Zentangle in my journal. Hey can we plan a get-to-gether with you, me and Sue soon? Before we know it she will be leaving again. Hugs.
Steal away Kim...and yes, I'd love that. I do have a new story coming up though...work, work, work...maybe before I get too tied up with it?
Thanks Butterfly Works...I've been working on it during my vacation...not only is it great fabric, there is a TON of it.
