Bring on the Red

Red-Osier Dogwood, most commonly know as Red Willow, B&W with color selector filter
In nature, the color red is few and far between, especially in this climate. So we regard red as something precious, regulated only sparingly to summer gardens and Christmas decor.
I've noticed that I use red so seldom in my journals that I can count the number of pages through the years...and there aren't very many.
That has to change. I am embracing Red. I am dancing the dance of life...wearing the brightest red, planting trees that turn red in the fall and flower fuchsia in the spring.
I am splashing watercolor on blank white-as-snow pages, and reveling in the variety of reds; scarlett, vermilion, lipstick, and rose.
I've gotten out my vast collection of bright red pens, and glittery red inks and they will grace blank journals when there is no time for painting...and that is more often that not. Red, the color of life, joy and red letter days. We should all have more of those.
Next up, one more List-it Tuesday before a little break to finish a story.
What color have you banished unknowingly from your journals?

I have been leaving this post of yours open in my browser for awhile. I love it! I need more color in my journal. More of any color! May 2013 be the year of red, and the year of color, for both of us : )
